'A Good Marriage' Falls Short

I was pretty fond of the short story of the same name in Stephen King’s anthology Full Dark, No Stars–but I found this adaption to be incredibly weak in comparison.

That’s not to say that it’s a particularly bad film. I don’t believe it is. But the movie’s storyline runs thin awfully quick, especially in comparison to that of the source material.

Wishy/washy dialogue, a clear low budget, and a semi-underwhelming performance from Joan Allen makes A Good Marriage hard to watch in some sections. Unfortunately not even Anthony LaPaglia’s fantastic performance could elevate this movie from a made-for-tv level. Overall, it’s a pretty painful watch.
